What is Soft-Washing?

Soft-washing uses low pressure (about a garden hose) plus detergents to break down organic growth like algae and mildew. It’s ideal for delicate or painted surfaces where high pressure can cause damage.

Best for

  • Home siding (vinyl, fiber cement, painted surfaces)
  • Trim, soffits, fascia, and gutter exteriors
  • Asphalt shingle and metal roofs (roof soft-wash)

What is Pressure Washing?

Pressure washing uses higher PSI to lift grime, tire marks, and buildup from hard surfaces. Great for durable materials; not for paint or soft substrates.

Best for

  • Driveways & walkways (concrete)
  • Paver patios (with care), some masonry
  • Grease and gum spots on hardscape
Rule of thumb: If it can dent wood fiber or lift paint, it’s too much pressure. When in doubt, soft-wash.

Which Method for Which Surface?

  • Siding/painted surfaces: Soft-wash to avoid etching and water intrusion.
  • Concrete: Calibrated pressure wash + surface cleaner gives the best, even result.
  • Roofs: Soft-wash only—high pressure can void warranties and remove granules.
  • Decks/fences: Usually soft-wash/low-pressure rinse to protect the grain.

Cost & Safety

Soft-wash and pressure wash pricing depends on size, soil level, and access. We price by project and choose the safest effective method. Landscaping is pre-wet and rinsed; delicate areas are protected.

How to Choose (Quick Checklist)

  • Want fresh siding/trim with no paint risk? → Soft-wash
  • Concrete with traffic stains? → Pressure wash
  • Streaky shingles/algae? → Roof soft-wash
FAQ: Will soft-wash harm plants or pets?
We use biodegradable detergents, pre-wet/after-rinse landscaping, and keep dwell times tight. Pets should be kept indoors during treatment and until surfaces are dry.
FAQ: Can high pressure damage siding?
Yes. That’s why we soft-wash siding and roofs, reserving higher PSI for durable surfaces like concrete.
